Emotions are part of our life, and how we respond to situations says a lot about who we are. But have you ever thought of where emotions come from and how they are produced? And what about the most important emotions, love, anger, fear, and happiness? Where do they come from? Well, emotions have been found to originate from our brains. This makes sense because most of the things we accomplish each day, from  

Our works, to knowing when to eat and rest. All because of the countless information passed on from our brains to our sales. Now the brain is a pretty complex organ designed to handle many functions. So which parts of the brain have been set aside to control our emotions? Well, let’s find out. 


Our emotions result from internally connected web chains within the brain, called the Limbic. But this does work alone and is accompanied by other structures, which experts have proven to be essential to all emotions we possess. These structures include the Hypothalamus, which plays a vital role in how we respond to sexual stimulation, aside from controlling emotions. We also have the Amygdala, which helps coordinate our responses to things in our environment. The hippocampus helps us retain information and understand our environment, and the Limbic cortex, which controls our moods, and overall judgment. These four structures play a fundamental role in the four powerful emotions. Let’s see how.


  1. LOVE.

Out of all emotions, love is the most popular and sort out for. Everyone desires to love and be loved, while others have the burden of expressing this emotion every day. Well, what part of the brain controls love? Well, love is triggered by the Hypothalamus. Feelings of nervous excitement and anxiety accompany it. All of these conflicting emotions produce honey. 

  1. FEAR.

As crazy as it may seem, fear is a powerful emotion. It has us respond appropriately to harmful situations to protect ourselves or run for our life. This powerful emotion starts with the stimulating of the Amygdala. It is also assisted by the Hypothalamus, which surprisingly is responsible for producing the feeling of love. If the Amygdala has even minor damage, it could affect how we respond to stressful situations. 

  1. ANGER.

Anger and fear, and emotions are strongly connected. Anxiety can produce irritation, and even stressful situations can provoke anger. This is why the brain responsible for fear is also needed to arouse anger. The offence occurs when the Amygdala stimulates the Hypothalamus. The prefrontal cortex also play a part in some level of anger. So the more stimulation given to the Hypothalamus, the more angry emotions are produced. 


Happiness is a state of fulfilment and satisfaction. It can easily be switched on and off, depending on the situations at hand. This is why the limbic cortex plays a significant role in happiness. Happiness is also created with the assistance of another brain cell called the precuneus. This part of the brain help retrieve and store information. Knowing how emotions are formed is crucial if we learn how to control our feelings and become better people.
